Can we create an environment that functions as well as a good armchair? The armchair as symbol for social infrastructure has been a guiding and reoccurring theme in my work. The armchair, in its simplest concept, is a device that facilitates the bodies desire to sit and to be at rest.
Refinement of ergonomic shells that mimic the contour of the human body heighten the ease of bodily interaction with manufactured devices. Body fits body as machine should fit body.
It is important that the objects I make create a broader understanding of how interaction with our manufactured environment has informed and shaped the basic needs and desires of the body.
