| Sex, detroit contemporary's fall 2000 season opener, explores the emotional, physical and spiritual complexities of human reproduction, sexual pleasure and gender relations. The exhibition exemplifies the influence sexual energy has on the human psyche, and the impact it has on social structures. Multi media works including sound, sculpture and painting from Detroit area emerging and established artists delivers a mature interpretation on the shows theme. While amplifying the power and beauty of sex the exhibition gently unravels its sensual and gruesome qualities as well. |
