On May 28, 2000 Aaron Timlin, director of detroit contemporary, began a roughly 700 mile walk from Detroit to New York City in an effort to raise money for the "got art?" mentorship program for inner city children.

Aaron is walking in a large box resembling a cardboard refrigerator box
equipped with a roof and small door with the slogan "got art?" on the four
exterior walls (click to view a movie of Aaron suiting up:1.5MB download.)

The "got art?" program will join children from impoverished neighborhoods of Detroit with area artists in an effort to enrich the children's creative spirits and empower their lives. Money raised from this walk will pay for art supplies, artist's stipends and field trips to area museums, workshops and studios.

The success of this walk depends on sponsorships, donations and pledges. Please make your tax-deductible pledge today. Thank you. Please make checks payable to: got art?
