Photography is the production of images by exposing photosensitive materials to light. Film is a physical thing with an identity and it does not exist only to represent.

These pictures are photo chemical transfers onto paper. They have reacted to various wavelengths of light. They are arranged on a surface as objects with properties of color, edge, depth, and texture.

I think of these as analogs for portraits. They are things with identities, standing there for visual consideration.
