Paintings, Drawings, and Kathy's Sculptures

In the first and second floor galleries detroit contemporary will present new and powerful works by local masters of their art. A brand-spanking-new series of encaustic paintings by Susan Aaron-Taylor, painting and assemblage by Jeanne R Bieri and Renee Dooley, sensitive photo realism by Ben Keihl, vast seascapes in graphite by Mary Potts, new paintings by Jo Powers and Nelson Smith together with Kathy Dambach's whimsical yet wise ceramic sculptures will put a whole lotta heart and soul in your next five weeks.

Intersections

This exhibit aims to give net.art a place in the Detroit consciousness, making us all a bit more aware of the wealth of talent we are home to. It also gives Detroit a place within the online reality; a map of Detroit with specific street intersections being the "vestibule" to the gallery. With distinctly unique approaches, the works speak on the common ground of memory and present, theory and phenomena... real and virtual. Curated by net artist Deb King and film artist Robert Andersen. Interface developed by Deb King.

Participating artists:
Lynn Crawford, Francis Grunow, Carla Harryman, Sherry Hendrick, Mike Kelley, Kai Kim, Bryan W. Koehn, Melanie Manos, Christopher McNamara, Dawn Nye, Martin Schramm, Frank Shifreen, Clint Snider, Patricia Soderberg, Dennis Sumener, Chris Tysh, Vito Valdez, Barrett Watten, and Elizabeth Youngblood.

Dukes of Hazzard

Exploring issues of race, regionalism, gender, education, and personal narratives through a unique subject, 2002 Cranbrook graduates Paul Fox, Thomas Knauer, Armon A. Means, and Anderson Williams take a look back on the popular television show, "The Dukes of Hazzard", through an exhibition appropriately placed in the T2 Gallery.
